Networking is a critical career enhancing skill that can provide new avenues for collaboration, professional development and career advancement. Dr. Bruce Seet, Head of Medical Affairs at Novavax (Canada) and the Founder/CEO of the Science to Business Network (S2BN), will outline the benefits of networking and offer practical tips on how to build and maintain valuable connections and grow your network.

Learning Objectives:

  • Highlight the importance of networking for professional development, and how to re-frame your mindset towards networking.
  • Review tips on how to maximize networking opportunities at events or conferences and how to build and maintain a strong professional network.
  • Provide case examples of networking situations and approaches to support the building of network connections.

 

Dr. Bruce Seet is a leader and advocate for broadening professional development opportunities for highly qualified personnel (HQP) in STEM fields. Towards this end, Bruce founded and serves as the President/CEO of the Science to Business Network (www.s2bn.org). He has worked in the biopharmaceutical industry for 17 years at companies such as GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Sanofi Pasteur and now at Novavax, where he serves as the Canadian Head of Medical Affairs. Dr. Seet is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto where he teaches and supports graduate professional development.
