Abstract:
Clinical adoption of genomic oncology biomarkers is a complex pathway that is done differently in each province and territory across Canada. With each jurisdiction making decisions in different ways, the overall impact is a highly fragmented approach, resulting in lack of standardization and unequal access to biomarker testing for patients across the country. Recent efforts have focused on harmonizing efforts in key areas of biomarker adoption, from assessment of the clinical utility and validity of a biomarker to the technical assessment of how best to measure them. This talk will focus on these efforts and highlight opportunities for moving towards a collaborative model of biomarker assessment and implementation.
