On March 27, 2026, the Department of Molecular Genetics welcomed prospective students to its annual Graduate Program Recruitment Day, a full day that introduced applicants to the department’s research environment and community.
The day began with a welcome session at the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research, including remarks from Department Chair Dr. Tim Hughes and an overview of the graduate program from Dr. Lori Frappier, Graduate Coordinator. Faculty talks and a lunch with members of the MoGen Graduate Student Association (GSA) followed.
Visitors also toured research spaces across Toronto’s Discovery District, including laboratories at MaRS, the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI), The Hospital for Sick Children’s Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (PGCRL), and the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research.
The afternoon included meetings with faculty members across the research network and concluded with a poster session in the Medical Sciences Building, where current graduate students shared their research and spoke with applicants about their work and experiences in the program. The day ended with a dinner and social with faculty and current students.
