Topic: Illuminating the Dark Matter of the Human Genome

Abstract:
Recent advances in genome sequencing and assembly have enabled investigations of the dark matter of the human genome. My lab is interested in genetic and epigenetic variation, as revealed by recent genomic efforts, and how they impact chromosome behavior. In particular, we have focused efforts on understanding the functionality of repetitive regions such as centromeres, ribosomal DNA repeats, and satellite DNA.
