Deadlines
Deadlines have changed from previous years
Please review deadline information carefully, as dates have changed from previous application cycles.
Applications for this year's admissions cycle will be accepted starting on October 5, 2026, for Fall 2027 (September) start.
Applications from domestic students (Canadian citizens and permanent residents) will be accepted until January 15, 2027. Depending on the volume of applications and availability of remaining spots, applications from domestic applicants may still be accepted on a rolling basis after January 15; however, this is not guaranteed. Please check back on this page for the status of rolling admissions.
Applications from international students (those requiring study permits) will be accepted until November 15, 2026, to account for timelines for study permit processing and international awards. International applications that are not complete by this deadline will not be reviewed. International applicants should review the international students page for important information about additional requirements. An application will not be considered complete without all required components.
Students who are currently completing an MSc in our department and interested in returning for a PhD with us should contact the department's Learning Strategist to discuss, as there are key procedures and alternate timelines to be aware of.
Application And Document Submission Deadlines
Please ensure that all supporting documents (references, electronic transcripts, CV and letter of intent) are submitted online by the respective deadline. It's also important to verify that materials are uploaded under the correct checklist item; if a checklist item is missing a document or has an incorrect document uploaded, the application will not be considered complete.
It is entirely the applicant's responsibility to monitor the status of their documents on the online application system and follow up with their referees if references are not received in advance of the deadline. Only complete applications will be reviewed for admission.
Your application will be reviewed and a decision will be made within a couple of months from the deadline.
Note that the Department of Molecular Genetics does not have fixed enrollment quotas; the size of the incoming cohort is dependent on both the availability of lab positions and the strength of applications under consideration.
Accepting Our Offer
