Melanie Care, MSc, CCGC, obtained her Honours Biology degree from McMaster University, completed her Genetic Counselling training at the University of Toronto and was certified by the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors in 2000. She began her career in the Genetics Program at North York General Hospital, where she had primary roles with the Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Clinic and the Ontario Maternal Serum Screening program. Since 2007, Melanie has been a member of the Fred A. Litwin Family Centre in Genetic Medicine, a combined adult clinical genetics program of the University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospital. She has developed a clinical and research interest in the area of cardiac genetics and has been working with the Heritable Arrhythmia Clinic at Toronto General Hospital since its inception in 2012. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Melanie has been involved with the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors as a member (2008-2009) and subsequent Chair (2010-2011) of the CAGC Certification Board (2010-2011) and co-chair of the local organizing committee for the 2013 Annual Education Conference.
