Department Wine & Cheese
This year carried the final notes of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with its departure came the gradual return to in-person events. Our first department wide MoGen GSA event was the Department Wine & Cheese in June earlier this year. This event combined what would have been our Department Christmas Party with our traditional Reclass/Qual Wine & Cheese event, bringing together over 150 students and faculty members to the Faculty Club, to celebrate the end of this year’s reclassification and qualification exams with food, drinks, and dancing.
Annual MoGen Department Retreat
After three long years, the Annual MoGen Department Retreat was finally able to return to a face-to-face format. This year, the event was moved to two campus locations – Hart House and the Faculty Club. To showcase the amazing work happening in our department, the whole-day event began with student and faculty talks at Hart House, complete with a top-quality buffet lunch. In the afternoon, we moved to the Faculty Club for our first in-person student poster session in several years, where over 30 students were able to highlight their projects. This was followed by a multi-course dinner, drinks, and entertainment – featuring Ron Sexsmith! Given the success of this event, we are excited to see what we will be able to plan in 2023!
