Liza is a fourth-year undergraduate student in the Molecular Genetics Specialist program at the University of Toronto. She has a growing interest in the field of Developmental and Stem Cell Biology, and currently works as a student researcher in Dr. Xi Huang’s lab at the Hospital for Sick Children. Her focus is on investigating how ion channel-targeting agents affect blood-tumor barrier permeability in hopes of increasing chemotherapy success rate.

Throughout her years at the university, Liza has taken on various roles within the UofT community. She became an intramural tennis team captain, a social media coordinator for the Molecular Genetics Undergraduate Student Union, a layout creator for the MicroVision Undergraduate Student Journal, and a mentor for students at St. Michael's College. As she grew closer to her peers and faculty in the MoGen department, she decided to extend her passion by becoming a member of the MoGen communications team. This year she will be creating content for the department’s social media platforms, promoting the program to prospective students, as well as designing new and exciting MoGen merchandise.
