MoGen researchers disentangle brain development cell by cell

Recent MoGen grad student Daniel Witvliet, under the guidance of Prof. Mei Zhen (LTRI and Department of Molecular Genetics) followed brain maturation from birth to adulthood in eight C. elegans individuals. As published in Nature, the team used serial-section electron microscopy to establish how synaptic connectivity changes during brain maturation, and how it differs between individuals.
