MoGen faculty member Prof. Hannes Röst recently launched an outreach and training program aimed to teach researchers from marginalized and minority groups how to understand and utilize the OpenMS, an open-source platform for mass spectrometry (MS) data analysis and processing. Specifically, he aims to train female and minority researchers to advance their MS data analysis skills, as these demographics are underrepresented in the community that develops these software programs. Previously, together with Prof Gary Bader, Prof. Röst worked to make OpenMS easier to use for non-bioinformatics experts. In his lab, Dr. Röst focuses on personalized medicine as well as developing new MS analysis software.
