An article by Carol Toller in The Toronto Star highlights MoGen's participation in the Human Cell Atlas initiative. The project aims to create a detailed 'Google Map' of the human body. MoGen Professor, Gary Bader, is one of the coordinators leading the liver map effort. With the participation of about 3,000 researchers from 94 countries, utilizing cutting-edge single-cell RNA sequencing technology, this collaborative endeavor aims to map the location and functions of every cell. By contributing to future biomedical advancements and improved medical treatments, we are proud to be part of this incredible project.
Researchers from the University of Toronto's Department of Molecular Genetics, led by Dr. Xi Huang and Dr. Weifan Dong, have developed a groundbreaking designer peptide therapy targeting glioblastoma (GBM). Their innovative approach disrupts a tumour-specific potassium channel complex, offering promising advancements in GBM treatment.
The team applied machine learning, a type of artificial intelligence that recognizes patterns in vast amounts of data, to gene expression data obtained from individual cells.
