By MoGen Communications

We are delighted to share the news of the Barbara Vivash Awards ceremony held on September 21, 2023, where we recognized the scientific work of two outstanding researchers in our department:

  • 2020-2021 Recipient: Wendy Cao (Supervisor: Howard Lipshitz) PhD Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University, on "Uncovering developmental processes through flies and worms.
  • 2021-2022 Recipient: Gabriela Krivdova (Supervisor: John Dick) PhD Research Scientist at POINT Biopharma, elucidating "The Functional Roles of microRNAs in Human Hematopoiesis and Leukemia."

Congratulations to Wendy and Gabriela for receiving this award presented annually to the most outstanding PhD thesis in the Department of Molecular Genetics.

This award recognizes research that enhances our understanding of genetic processes vital to important biological and medical functions. The ceremony is also a great platform for our award winners to share award-winning research.

Barbara Vivash, the visionary behind the award, joined us virtually while her daughter Catherine and granddaughter Katie presented the award on her behalf. We want to thank all who joined us, and let's continue supporting new and exciting research in molecular genetics!
