Our research leverages the extreme biology of the axolotl, a species of highly regenerative aquatic salamander, to understand how vertebrates rebuild tissues. We use axolotls, mice and in vitro model systems to explore the role of regulated translation in tissue regeneration, rejuvenation and repair using a combination of genetic, molecular and imaging techniques to understand the fundamental biology of these processes and to explore new avenues for therapeutic intervention. We use axolotls and mice to explore the role of ribosomes and regulated translation in tissue regeneration, rejuvenation and repair.
