My lab develops deep learning methods to model and design biomolecules, with a focus on protein and peptide-based agents. We primarily approach the development of these methods through the lens of dynamics. Fundamentally, biomolecular function is determined by the propensity of a biomolecule to assume different structural conformations, and the properties of these different conformations. The methods we develop integrate information about the dynamics of molecules to enable characterization of their function, and seek to modulate their dynamics to enable the design of new functions. Our long term goal is to enable the rapid engineering of proteins and peptides in silico with a high degree of control over their functional properties.
