BIOSKETCH:

Nicholas completed his two MSc degrees in the Department of Molecular Genetics. His first MSc in was completed researching synapse formation in the model organism C. elegans in Dr. Zhen’s laboratory. He subsequently went on to complete an MSc in Genetic Counselling in 2014. Since graduation Nicholas has worked in specialized genetics clinics including metabolic genetics at London Health Sciences Centre and high-risk prenatal genetics at McMaster Children’s Hospital. He is currently employed at Mount Sinai Hospital in the Diagnostic Medical Genetics clinical laboratory as a Genetic Diagnostic Data Specialist where he is involved in result analysis, variant assessment and reporting. In addition he counsels patients at Toronto General Hospital in the Hereditary Kidney Disease Clinic specializing in Polycystic Kidney Disease. Nicholas is involved in the training of genetic counsellors at the University of Toronto where he co-coordinates a course entitled “Clinical Issues in Pregnancy and Child Development” and he supervises students on rotation in the clinical laboratory. Nicholas has been certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselling and the Canadian Association of Genetic Counselling since 2015.
