Prof. John Dick received the 2022 Gairdner International Award for discovering leukemic stem cells and his work in acute myeloid leukemia research. These accomplishments included the first xenograft models of human leukemia and producing a 17-gene stemness score for predicting risk and outcomes. He was among the five recipients, who are biomedical scientists from all across Canada and won $100,000 each. Awardees are nominated based on their scientific work elevating knowledge and impacting human biology, health and disease.
